What materials do I need to make a basket?

You’ll need cotton piping cord, string of choice, yarn needle, scissors, and a ruler.

How much do I need in those materials?

25 yards of cotton piping cord + 2 rolls of macramé string will make approximately 3 baskets

What baskets will I learn how to make?

In the beginner’s course, Baskets Made Simple, you’ll learn how to make the Nesting Baskets Set, the Knotty Basket, and the Handle basket. Plus, with the skills learned, you’ll be able to create many more styles.

Do you show how to make the Fringe Basket?

I don’t consider the Fringe Basket to be beginner level, so for that reason it’s not shown in Baskets Made Simple. However, once you have a little practice with basket weaving, head to my Instagram profile and check out some of the videos where I am demonstrating adding fringe @aliciathecrafter

Do you show how to make an oval-shaped basket?

An oval-shaped basket is currently being tested out to be included in my next course, Whimsical Weaving: Creating Baskets with Fabric. Expect to see this course released in early Spring 2024!

The color I want is not in stock, will you be getting more?

I restock 1-2 times per month. Some colors go very fast and I don’t always know what is going to be popular, so always act fast when a restock goes live! Feel free to send me a message if there is a color that you really want that I don’t have in stock and I’ll be sure to add it to my next order ;)

I’m having trouble with my basket, please help!

The pattern instructions and the videos are pretty detailed. If you are having trouble, make sure you read the instructions and watch the video that goes along with the step. If you are still having trouble, don’t hesitate to submit a message on the contact page, I’m happy to help!

What age is this appropriate for?

The simple patterns are very family friendly, most commonly done by crafty kids 8 years old and older. Some assistance is still required by an adult. The more complicated patterns (such as larger baskets, and ones with extra details) are best suited for crafty teens/young adults, and older.

How long does it take to complete a basket?

A basket can take anywhere from 1-10 hours! A very simple mini size basket commonly takes a hour or two, while a larger one is more like 6-10 hours to completion. Of course, it all depends on how fast you craft and if it’s your first time or your 10th :) You can easily set the project down and work on it over several days.
